The traveling exhibitions program of the 36th Bienal expands across Brazil and reaches international destinations

With five traveling exhibitions of the 36th Bienal de São Paulo – Not All Travellers Walk Roads – Of Humanity as Practice currently on view across Brazil, the Fundação Bienal de São Paulo announces the next stages of the program, which will continue to six additional Brazilian cities and three international destinations over the coming months, reaching fifteen locations throughout 2026.

Since March, the exhibition has traveled to the Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Goiás, in Goiânia; the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR), in Rio de Janeiro; the Museu Oscar Niemeyer (MON), in Curitiba; the Pinacoteca do Ceará, in Fortaleza; the Museu Nacional da República, in Brasília; and Sesc Santos, in Santos.

The program continues with new openings at Oficina Brennand, in Recife, and in São José do Rio Preto, in partnership with Sesc São Paulo, in August; at the Museu Nacional da Cultura Afro-Brasileira (MUNCAB), in Salvador, the Museu de Arte de Belém (MABE), in Belém, and Cais das Artes, in Vitória, in September; and at Palácio das Artes, in Belo Horizonte, in October.

Internationally, the 36th Bienal de São Paulo will travel for the first time to Mexico City, where it will be presented at Museo Tamayo, and to Berlin, where it will be hosted by Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW). The international program also includes Santiago, Chile, where the exhibition is on view at Centro Cultural La Moneda.

Over the years, the traveling exhibitions have become a fundamental extension of the Bienal de São Paulo, allowing curatorial selections from the exhibition to engage with diverse local contexts, generate new interpretations, and build lasting relationships with institutions and audiences beyond the exhibition circuit of the Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion. In its 36th edition, this movement reaches new territories.
