Workshop – Introduction to black and white photography: the work of Mao Ishikawa as a reference with Hiromi Toma, Tamy Higa e Tami Tahira

20.12 – 20.12.25
Sat, 11 am – 1 pm

On December 20, the workshop Introduction to black and white photography: the work of Mao Ishikawa as a reference with Hiromi Toma, Tamy Higa e Tami Tahira will take place. During the activity, participants will explore introductory techniques of black and white photography, focusing on composition, contrast, lighting, and visual storytelling. The event will take place from 11 am to 1 pm in the Bloomberg Education Space, located on the third floor.

Inspired by the powerful and socially engaged work of Okinawan photographer Mao Ishikawa, the action will analyze how black and white images can convey emotion, identity, and cultural narratives, and is part of Conjugations – Education, part of the public program of the 36th Bienal. Conjugations – Education offers activities inspired by playing, dancing, singing, gaming, and storytelling, inviting the public to actively and playfully immerse themselves in the exhibition, deepening practices of humanity and valuing diverse ways of being and living together.

No previous experience is necessary—just curiosity and a desire to see the world in shades of gray. Required material: your own cell phone.

The activity includes interpretation in Brazilian Sign Language.
