Workshop for children with Sallisa Rosa – Invented sculptures

19.10 – 19.10.25
Sun, 10:30 am – 12 pm

On October 19, the workshop for children Invented Sculptures, with Sallisa Rosa, will take place from 10:30 am to 12 pm in the education–mediation space, located on the ground floor. The workshop is part of Conjugations – Education, part of the public program of the 36th Bienal de São Paulo. Conjugations – Education offers activities inspired by playing, dancing, singing, gaming, and storytelling, inviting the public to engage in an active and playful immersion in the exhibition, deepening practices of humanity and valuing diverse ways of being and living together.

The word “Ibirapuera”, of Tupi-Guarani origin, means “rotten tree”, a reference to the swampy characteristics of the area before the park’s inauguration in 1954. This workshop, led by artist Sallisa Rosa, explores the creative potential of reusing branches collected from pruning at Ibirapuera Park. These branches, which carry the history of the interconnection between plants and soil, will be transformed into “invented sculptures,” establishing a dialogue with the work Muitos nomes (2025), part of the 36th Bienal de São Paulo.

Sallisa Rosa (Goiânia, 1986. Lives in Rio de Janeiro) works with photography, video, performance, and installation. Her artistic research addresses the relationship between humans and the earth, using clay as a central material to establish a unique connection with the soil and the land. She has participated in group exhibitions at SNAP (Shanghai, China), Visual Arts Center (Austin, USA), Théâtre de l’Usine (Geneva, Switzerland), MASP and Paço das Artes (São Paulo), Museu de Arte do Rio, and Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (Rio de Janeiro), as well as the Bienal do Barro (Caruaru, Brazil). She was nominated for the PIPA Prize, and her works are part of the collection of the Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP). She is currently participating in the 2023–2025 artist residency at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam.
