Thematic visit for children – The sound of the invisible with Thiago Franco

11.10 – 11.10.25
Sat, 10:30 am – 12 pm

On October 11, there will be a themed guided visit with art educator Thiago Franco. The event will take place from 10:30 am to 12 pm, starting from the mediation space on the ground floor. The activity is aimed at children over five years old and their companions. Registration must be made at the mediation space, and participation is limited to fifteen children accompanied by their guardians.

Does sound have a color? Is silence invisible? What was the first sound you ever heard in your life? Is a heartbeat a drum? Do we need to slow down to hear silence? How much time does it take to listen to everything in space? This themed visit invites children to quiet their ears in order to listen with imagination and with a de-sa-ce-le-ra-ted attention to the exhibition. The encounter, inspired by some of the curatorial themes such as time, space, calm, and silence, takes as its sonic path the work catástrofe orquestra #1 (Ato I) (2024–25) by artist Antonio Társis. It proposes the creation of a soundscape based on the works visited along the way, culminating in Társis’ piece. This creative construction of a soundscape will unfold playfully, through imaginative and participatory activities during the visit. The art educator will guide the group with a suitcase–music-box–sound-box that will collect the sounds proposed by the children during the encounter, which at the end of the visit will be played back as the silent song they created together.

Thiago Franco is an actor, children’s book author, and educator specialized in art languages at USP. He has collaborated with educational programs and research at institutions such as the Bienal de São Paulo, Museu Lasar Segall, and CineSesc, among other cultural and educational spaces in São Paulo. Since 2021, he has developed research for early childhood in Portugal through the co-creation of the project Bebé em Cena—performances and workshops for very young children. He has also worked with Brazilian organizations in cities such as Madrid (ABM – Associação Brasileira em Madrid) and Dublin (AMBI – Associação de Mães Brasileiras na Irlanda). His children’s books have been published by Mais Diferenças and Movi.Books.
