Thematic visit for children – Chama chão with Thiago Franco
On October 5, there will be a themed guided visit with art educator Thiago Franco. The event will take place from 10:30 am to 12 pm, starting from the mediation space on the ground floor. The activity is aimed at children over five years old and their companions. Registration must be made at the mediation space, and participation is limited to fifteen children accompanied by their guardians.
Proposed by artist-educator Thiago Franco, the thematic visit Chama chão invites children to investigate the concept of ground and territory. The activity offers a playful and affective reflection on earth as matter, inspired by the installation Terra viva (2025) by artist Marlene Almeida. Beyond materiality, the group will be encouraged to discuss the notion of territory within the universe of childhoods, broadening their perspectives and creating new dialogues. The experience begins with questions such as: What lies beneath children’s feet? What other grounds have they walked on? Where did they learn to walk? Were their parents and grandparents born on this Brazilian soil? To build a childhood with the right to play, is freedom in the backyard necessary? Can the Bienal be a ground for children?
Thiago Franco is an actor, children’s book author, and educator specialized in art languages at USP. He has collaborated with educational programs and research at institutions such as the Bienal de São Paulo, Museu Lasar Segall, and CineSesc, among other cultural and educational spaces in São Paulo. Since 2021, he has developed research for early childhood in Portugal through the co-creation of the project Bebé em Cena—performances and workshops for very young children. He has also worked with Brazilian organizations in cities such as Madrid (ABM – Associação Brasileira em Madrid) and Dublin (AMBI – Associação de Mães Brasileiras na Irlanda). His children’s books have been published by Mais Diferenças and Movi.Books.
