Talk – Vilanismo – EducoTRETA: Secrets of the circuit, continuing education, and education as a weapon/poem for the emancipation of cultural workers
On October 4, the talk EducoTRETA: Secrets of the circuit, continuing education, and education as a weapon/poem for the emancipation of cultural workers, by Vilanismo with the team from Fundação Bienal de São Paulo, will take place. The event will run from 3 pm to 5 pm in the Invocations space, on the second floor. Participating in this conversation are Ramo and Denis Moreira, from Vilanismo, and André Leitão and Renato Lopes, from Fundação Bienal de São Paulo.
EducoTRETA calls for the practice of reflection and the creation of safe paths within our labor category as a gesture of insurgency. It proposes platforms of continuous hacking aimed at subcommon cultural workers, especially as entryways and means of ascension. In light of Brazil’s structural inequalities, TRETA — understood as stratagem, in the terms of Muniz Sodré — becomes a methodology of safe mapping and counterattack, embracing continuing education as a right, a tool for collective empowerment, and a way to reinvent structures of knowledge and power.
Vilanismo (founded in 2021, São Paulo) is a collective of twelve Black men working to create spaces of resistance and affirmation within the art circuit. They value ancestral knowledge, Afro-Indigenous experiences, and collective construction, prioritizing autonomy and the creation of sustainable practices. In their actions, they reject stereotypes and historical fetishes imposed on Black bodies, subverting normative expectations and celebrating cultural abundance. The group has participated in events such as Baile do Vilanismo (Edifício Misericórdia, São Paulo) and the talk-performance Black Masculinities (Instituto Moreira Salles, São Paulo). The collective currently includes Diego Crux, Ramo, Renan Teles, Carinhoso, Guto Oca, Rodrigo Zaim, Rafa Black, Robson Marques, Denis Moreira, and Daniel Ramos.
This participation is supported by The Order of New Arts.
