Sonic Program – Podeserdesligado

On November 15, Podeserdesligado will perform her second live performance as part of the Sonic Program of the 36th Bienal de São Paulo. The event will take place from 4 pm to 5 pm at the work of Precious Okoyomon, located on the ground floor, for which Podeserdesligado collaborated on the soundtrack.

In dialogue with the curatorial concept of the 36th Bienal de São Paulo, a group of artists who share a hybrid sonic practice, connecting sound and aesthetic experimentation, present sets in which sound operates as an instrument of memory, resistance, and cultural transformation.

These artists explore sonic sources such as field recordings, interviews, urban noise, Afrodiasporic beats, and soundscapes; they employ sampling, live manipulation, and vinyl records to create tracks that go beyond traditional music. There is a strong emphasis on the discursive dimension of sound: the creative process is grounded both in research and in reflections on subjectivity and political identity, weaving together aesthetic experience and social critique.

For this series of activations, the work Sun of Consciousness. God Blow Thru Me – Love Break Me, by Precious Okoyomon, serves as a reference for each presentation.

Podeserdesligado is a music producer and sound researcher working between the fields of art and music. Her work unfolds in multiple formats, encompassing the creation of original tracks, live shows, artistic performances, workshops, and soundtracks for film and theater, garnering awards, collaborations, and tours. A featured artist at the Biennial of Contemporary Arts in Lisbon (BoCA), she also collaborates with the MEXA collective, with whom she presented Poperópera Transatlântica and A Última Ceia on international stages such as Kunstenfestivaldesarts (Brussels), HAU (Berlin), Kaserne (Basel), Teatro do Bairro Alto (Lisbon), and Kampnagel (Hamburg). She recently premiered her new work, Tudo pra mim é viagem de volta, in which she constructs and subverts musical instruments in an attempt to bring forth a sonic continent distant from the experience of trauma.
