Presentation – Conceição Evaristo
On September 6, there will be a presentation by Conceição Evaristo, as part of the public program on the opening day of the 36th Bienal de São Paulo – Not All Travellers Walk Roads – Of Humanity as Practice. The author, whose poem “Da calma e do silêncio” inspired the title of this Bienal, will give a talk on the theme of the exhibition and read from her poetry. The event will take place from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm on the stage of Varanda Bienal, the outside area of the Pavilion.

Conceição Evaristo (Belo Horizonte, 1946) holds a degree in Literature from UFRJ and worked as a teacher in the public school system of Rio de Janeiro. She has a Master’s degree in Brazilian Literature from PUC-Rio and a PhD in Comparative Literature from Universidade Federal Fluminense. She made her literary debut in 1990, when she began publishing her short stories and poems in the series Cadernos Negros. Her work spans poetry, fiction, and essays.
