Performance – Seja artista, seja animal [Be an artist, be an animal] – Gervane de Paula
On December 13, the premiere performance Be an artist, be an animal by Gervane de Paula will take place. The event will be held in two sessions, from 11 am to 12 pm and from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, in the artist’s space located on the second floor.
The bird-artist, dressed as a jabiru stork (tuiuiú) – a bird typical from Pantanal – and armed with a wooden hatchet, performs a flyover around his works in the Bienal Pavilion. At the ends of his vehicle, he carries gifts that will be distributed to the public.
Gervane de Paula (Cuiabá, 1961; lives and works in Cuiabá) is a self-taught artist. His work includes drawing, painting, objects and installations, addressing social, environmental and territorial issues related to Brazil’s Midwest region. He has participated in exhibitions at the Art Museum of the Americas (Washington, D.C.), the Bronx Museum of the Arts (New York), the California African American Museum (Los Angeles), as well as at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo, Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro and Pinacoteca de São Paulo.
