Performance – Alain Padeau
On September 13, there will be a performance by the artist participating in the 36th Bienal de São Paulo, Alain Padeau, with the participation of musicians Paola Ribeiro and Mamah Soares. The event takes place from 3pm to 5pm at the artist’s work on the 2nd floor.
Alain Padeau (Saint-Denis, Réunion, 1956. Lives in Le Tampon, Réunion) is a visual artist whose work questions collective memory, colonial legacies and social dynamics through sculptures, performances and installations. A committed artist, he anchors his works in the public space to provoke reflection and dialogue. Among his major achievements, Le Collier d’Esclave (1999), a monumental public sculpture located in Saint-Paul, symbolizes the memory of abolition.
Paola Ribeiro is an artist, singer, researcher, and educator. She currently focuses on exploring the relationship between voice and body, mainly through sound/vocality, using techniques such as sensory deprivation, repetition, superimposition, improvisation, among others. This research takes shape through performances, videos, music, and objects.
Mamah Soares is a Brazilian multi-artist, born in Bahia, with over 25 years of experience as a percussionist, singer, composer, arranger, and music producer. Known for his connections to Afro-Brazilian music, he recently released the single “Banho de Abô,” a work that combines candomblé rhythms with electronic music for an experience of healing and spirituality.
