Workshop – Knowledges of the Samba

On September 14, the workshop Saberes do Samba will take place, part of the sociocultural project Bateria 013, which proposes an immersion into the history of Brazilian carnival instruments, culminating in the collective construction of a samba school drum ensemble with the participating audience. The event will be held from 3 pm to 5 pm at the Varanda Bienal and is part of Conjugations – Education, the public program of the 36th Bienal.

Through the instruments that make up a samba school drum ensemble — from the deep sound of the surdos to the vibrant repique, from the tamborim to the steady caixa, from the rumble of the cuícas to the rattles that give swing — each beat echoes memory, resistance, and belonging.
