Concert – Chico César

25.10 – 25.10.25
Sat, 6 pm – 7:30 pm

Chico César performs in the iconic open space of the Bienal Pavilion on October 25 at 6 pm to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his album Aos vivos, a landmark in Brazilian music. The solo voice and guitar performance is part of the public program of the 36th Bienal de São Paulo – Not All Travellers Walks Roads – Of Humanity as Practice.

Released in 1995, Aos vivos introduced to a wide audience an artist who moved fluidly between the popular and the poetic, the regional and the cosmopolitan. From Beradêro to Mama África, from À primeira vista to Mulher eu sei, the album captured Brazil’s plurality and the strength of voices echoing from its margins. Three decades after its release, Aos vivos still carries the power of a manifesto of freedom and invention.

This marks Chico César’s second participation in the Bienal de São Paulo. In 2016, he shared the stage with Siba during Incerteza Viva, in a performance created especially for the theme of the 32nd edition. Now, nine years later, Chico returns to the Pavilion with a repertoire that revisits one of his most emblematic works, celebrating the historical dialogue between the Bienal and Brazilian popular music as spaces of reflection and critique.
