Leiko Ikemura
Leiko Ikemura (Tsu. Lives in Cologne and Berlin) has developed a poetic, cross-cultural practice since the 1980s, spanning painting, sculpture, drawing, and video. Her work draws from both Japanese and European visual traditions to explore themes of transformation, female identity, and the connection between humans, nature, and spirituality. She has held solo exhibitions recently at The National Art Center (Tokyo), Sainsbury Centre (Norwich), and Museo de Arte de Zapopan (Guadalajara). Her work is included in major collections such as the Centre Pompidou (Paris), Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, and Kunsthaus Zürich. Since 2016, she has taught at Joshibi University of Art and Design.
